Connor lived in Dallas for three years, earned his MBA at SMU, and moved back home to Boston in June 2024 without ever meeting Elizabeth. For some reason, she never introduced herself, can you believe that?
That November, Connor's friend Steven talked him into flying back for one SMU football game. It happened to be SMU vs. Boston College, a matchup that suited a guy with one foot in each city. It suited Elizabeth as well, who also got her MBA at SMU and who's friend, Valeria, was in her MBA program and a BC grad.
At the tailgate on the Boulevard, Steven and his wife introduced Connor to their friend, Elizabeth. The two chatted a little bit before kickoff and a little more during the game. It was touch and go at times. and they'll both admit that. But their friends kept nudging things along, and by the end of the game, Connor had Elizabeth's number, and still recalls today the blue dress that Elizabeth was wearing.
Connor and Elizabeth kept in touch with calls and texts through the fall and winter. In January 2025, Connor flew down for a weekend and they had their first and second dates: dinner at The Steakyard followed by drinks and live music at The Rustic, then a walk at White Rock Lake the next day.
From there, they were long distance, and became very familiar with American Airline's BOS-DFW route.
Elizabeth's first visit to Boston was a weekend in early February. Connor was hesitant to let her visit that weekend, as most New Englanders know better than to invite a Southerner to visit Boston in February. It was bitterly cold, but Elizabeth handled it like a champ.
That set the tone for the months that followed. Neither of them had a clear picture of how this would work, but both felt there was something geniunely special. Connor and Elizabeth decided to dive in, be patient, and see what might happen. Teleparty became a favorite tool of theirs as it allowed them to watch movies together while apart - virtual date nights!
In August 2025, Connor accepted a job in Dallas and moved a few weeks later. Eight months of planning flights became a few minutes of driving. Connor and Elizabeth still love striking a balance between going on new adventures and having quiet nights on the couch.
In April 2026, Connor and Elizabeth flew to London to visit Elizabeth's brother George, his wife, Victoria, and their newborn, William. Connor planned a night out: dinner, then Phantom of the Opera in the West End. He suggested they leave early for a walk through Hyde Park first.
What Elizabeth didn't know was that the walk ended in the Italian Gardens, at a spot overlooking the lake, where a photographer was waiting. Connor kept the ring hidden when they moved from two apartments to one townhome and all the way to London and then nearly lost track of it in the hotel room right before they left on their walk. After a few very tense minutes. he found it.
Elizabeth had noticed a few signs by then. She couldn't understand why Connor was nervously checking his watch when they had plenty of time for their walk. She also noticed that, when he suggested they have their picture taken by a "stranger," he handed his phone to a woman who also had a professional camera slung over her shoulder.
Elizabeth said "yes!" though she says she blacked out a little and feared she just said "sure" or "yeah". We have a photographer's worth of evidence that it was a "yes" either way.
Whether you're coming from Boston, Dallas, London, or beyond, Connor and Elizabeth are thrilled to have you join them for their wedding day and they look forward to April 2027!
